Connected rural areas through the £5 billion Project Gigabit, which expanded gigabit access to over 80 per cent of homes and businesses across the UK, delivering on the Conservatives’ plan to grow the rural economy. Seven in ten UK properties can now access the fastest and most reliable internet connections needed for families and businesses to take full advantage of revolutionary new advances in technology in the coming decades.
Established a new National Rural Crime Unit backed by £200,000, delivering on the plan to crack down on crime and make our rural communities safer. The Conservatives supported the establishment of a new National Rural Crime Unite to help forces in their responses to rural crime such as livestock theft, rural fly tipping to rural fuel theft. This has helped to ensure farmers and their work is protected.
