Housing and Planning

  • Delivered 2.5 million homes since 2010. Since April 2010, over 2.5 million additional homes have been delivered. Before 2024, the four highest annual rates of housing supply in 30 years have all come since 2018.

  • Delivered on the Conservatives’ manifesto commitment to deliver one million homes over the 2019-2024 Parliament.

  • Made the dream of home ownership a reality for over 880,000 families since 2010 through Government backed Help to Buy schemes, giving families security for the future. 592,105 property completions were supported by the Help to Buy: ISA since 2015. 375,654 properties were bought using the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme since 2013 and since 2010, over 102,000 families bought a home with Right to Buy.

  • Delivered 696,100 more affordable homes since 2010, giving more families the chance to get on the housing ladder. Since 2010, the Conservatives helped deliver over 696,100 new affordable homes, including over 482,000 affordable homes for rent, of which over 172,600 homes for social rent.

  • Delivered 234,000 homes a year, making progress towards annual housebuilding targets. New housing supply increased year-on-year from 125,000 homes in 2012-13, reaching a high point of 243,000 new homes in 2019-20 and delivered 234,400 new homes in 2022-23.
