Reduced small boats crossings by more than a third, showing the Conservatives’ plan to stop the boats was working. They reduced the number of illegal migrants arriving by small boat by 36 per cent in 2023 and small boat crossings were down by 64 per cent in October to December 2023 compared with the same period in 2022.
Drove up port returns to their highest level since 2009, ensuring illegal migrants were stopped before they enter the UK. There were 24,587 passengers who were refused entry at port and subsequently departed in 2023. This represents the highest number of port returns since 2009, when there were 29,336.
Delivered on Brexit and passed the historic Immigration Act. The Immigration Act paved the way for UK parliament controlling who comes into the UK.
